Trying for a third

No judgment please, just curious!!!
My husband and I have always wanted three children. We now have two beautiful daughters and love them to bits (when we found out we were having a second girl we were slightly disappointed as we wanted a boy, but wouldn't change her for the world).
We are now not sure if to have another child as not sure if we want three girls. I really want want third but want it to be a boy. Is it awful that I am thinking this way?
Has anybody been in the same position where they have two of the same sex and wanted a third but were hoping it was of the opposite sex? What did you do? What did you end up having? Did you just stop at two incase you end up having three of the same sex?

My friend had this. Two boys, wanted a girl, had third boy and now wants a 4th in the hopes it’s a girl... another friend, 3 boys and went for a 4th and it’s a boy. Another family friend, two boys, went for a third and had identical twin boys. These are true stories!!! If you want a certain sex, don’t do it. Almost 99% of the time you will have the same see you already have. I do Know two different people who had two girls and then third a boy. But I also know many families w 4 girls!! Or 4 boys! And one family of 7 girls!!!!!!!!

I would only go for a third if you want a third. It’s hard work. We went for a third. We had a girl first, boy and then wanted a third, and didn’t mind either way. So we have a girl and very happy w her.

Only try for a third if you want a third baby, no matter their sex. We had 2 girls, tried for a third. Ended up with b/g twins. Tbh we'd have chosen two of the same had we known it would be twins because logistically it would be easier for things like room sharing if we had all girls/2 of each. But we didn't really GAF beyond that.

I know it’s crazy. And someone I grew up with, but lost touch with (reconnected on Facebook) had twin girls, then twin boys!! She went on to have a 5th singleton.

Yeah 2 boys, secretly wanted a girl (wanted a baby more though!). I’ve now got 3 boys! Grin
The only other person I know with 3 has 3 girls!

Sarahlou19867 · 26/02/2021 22:41

@iPhonie it's funny how it works out... I read somewhere that if you have two of the same sex, the chances of having another of the same sex are really high!!
Do you think you would have a fourth?

I'm the youngest of 3 with 2 older brothers. Many of my friends have 2 of 1 gender then a 3rd of the opposite. I think it's quite common to want for the next to be different after 2 of the same gender.
We had one of each with our 1st 2, we're now expecting number 6 in Aug (4 girls & 1 boy). It would be really nice to give our son a brother but a healthy baby after 2 mc's will do me whatever flavour.

DramaAlpaca · 27/02/2021 00:38

When I had my scan with DS3, the sonographer told me that the chance of having a third child of the same sex was about 75%. Sure enough, my third son came along.

I'd always wanted boys so was happy to have three of them, but of course I'd've been fine with a girl too.

I know so many families with either three boys or three girls, it's ridiculous!

I’ve actually said to my husband I would want a fourth but he thinks he’s too old!
I doubt it would be a girl after three boys too, although that would be ‘the dream’ if you like. I went to school with a girl who had 10 brothers... (she wasn’t the youngest but!).
I think sometimes, you are just more likely to have one sex over another 🤷‍♀️
