Mediation - Domestic abuse

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of going through mediation when there has been domestic abuse?

My abusive ex hasn't seen my 18 month old for 4 months after I told him he needed to organise a contact centre as I couldn't supervise visits anymore. He said no to the contact centre but has now requested mediation. I want to try as I don't want to end up in court but I don't know if they will mediate because of the domestic abuse?

Thanks

Why don’t you want it to end up in court? Mediation is not suitable when there has been domestic abuse.

I don't think anyone would like to end up in court. The stress would be huge I imagine on all involved

Mediation isn’t suitable for DV. He needs to take this to court for all of your protectionz

I always thought Dv and mediation was a no go. Have you logged any of the DV?

I told them when I called to book the initial assessment but I guess I tell them everything in detail in the assessment session and they make the decision from there. I'm sick with worry about it all.

I had this with my XH. He was emotionally abusive.
I just went to the first session, which was alone, and told them I didn't feel it was appropriate - it didn't go any further, and we just proceeded to court.

The mediation company have deemed it suitable for mediation. I know its voluntary but I feel if I don't agree to it then I will look unreasonable if/when it proceeds to court :(
