Trike is a great idea. With a helmet. And a bell.

My DS is 2.2. He loves:

Lego (duplo)
Wooden Railways
Books
Musical toys
Balls - I think he would really enjoy a football goal.

dressing up clothes were big here from age 2 - bob the bhilder and postman pat in particular

vehicles - the chunky bob, fireman sam, bob ones were good

duplo and wooden railway we probably did a little older but big hits

wheelybug?

i'm not convinced about trikes, lots of the wee ones I know didn't really get into them. maybe the key is to go really really expensive?

what about a 'likeabike' its a bike with no pedals, just like a proper bike but for littlies, my two yr got his at 18mths and he LOVES it, i got it off ebay and it came with a proper bike helmet, i think it was £40-50? elc do one but theres is more expensive, you can get them from great little trading company as well

duplo is good as is wooden train track, also little matchbox cars and a nice garage?

oh and ds3 like his little wooden cooker and play food if you want to get something 'non traditional' for a boy

Toy cars? The sturdier matchbox ones.

They are ds's favourite toy at the moment. He lines them up, puts them in and out of containers, and runs them long the ground. Hours of fun.

oh yes, cars, cars, more cars (megabloks ones are good, and matchbox type things), and wooden railway bits. And I agree with balls as well. (DS is 20 months btw, and loves all those things).

Thanks for your messages, we may stick with the trike but love the idea of dressing up clothes and more toys
