Has your child had chicken pox during the pandemic?

I'm just curious, really... has your child had caught chicken pox during the pandemic? My 2 year old hasn't had it yet and I was hoping we'd be able to get it out of the way while he's still little (sounds as though symptoms are generally milder the younger they are).

It occurred to me that DS has had very few colds over the last year (all caught through attending nursery) and that if that's the case, I'm guessing that catching chicken pox is even less likely (potentially for a long time to come)...

@glowingtwig Boots and Superdrug both do it for £140.

I got the vaccine for both of mine and I'm glad I did. Be careful though because it is a 'live' vaccine (could be describing it wrong!) my DD had to stay out of school for over a week. Had I known that I would have had them done over the summer.

Thanks @user64332 I've just booked her vaccination. I was just wondering... we are trying for another baby, there won't be an issue with DD having it as a live vaccine will there? I have had chicken pox and so has DH.

I would think if you have both had it you should be fine but you can call wherever you have booked it and double check.

Strange about having to stay out of school after having it, definitely didn't have to do that after my child's CP vaccine?!

Would recommend the vaccine if you can afford it Op.

It's not recommended for child to have the vaccine if mother is pregnant, some (all?) places will refuse to do it even if you have had chicken pox. Seemed odd to me when weighed against risk of older unvaxxed child infecting a newborn, for whom it is dangerous, but those are the rules.

Get your child vaxxed quick before you are pregnant!
