Hi all
Sorry this is bit gross so not to read whilst you're eating...
We've noticed over last months or so our 3 year old has started bringing up food a few hours after eating back up into his mouth. At first, I thought my dh had given him something to eat but then when I said what's in your mouth, my ds told me it was the ham from lunch. His 3 year explanation was it comes up from his tummy then he swallows it back down but he can't tell me if it's on purpose or not.
I'm concerned about it as it doesn't seem normal, im worried about teeth and it makes his breath bit smelly too. My husband thinks it is a common thing to happen and we just need to tell him not to do it. Dh says he could bring food back up if he wanted to quite easily too (although he obviously doesn't!)
I have literally never heard of any adult or child doing this! Anyone else? Do I need to see the gp?

Is he eating too much? Happens to best of us if he is. If not possibly some sort of acid reflux thing? I would explain to doc, maybe he needs something to help with indigestion/acid?

My husband does this and it is pretty gross.. I haven't heard of anyone else doing this and I have no idea how he does it !!

He does eat quite a lot but not crazy amounts and he's not being sick per se, as in no vomiting, noise etc. He had acid reflux as a baby but stopped at 6 months then this literally started a month ago

Sounds like reflux / regurgitation - I'd speak to the GP. I would of thought food would be more digested if it's coming up hours later rather than being identifiable - I'd want to check there wasn't any oesophageal narrowing that's blocking the proper transit of food. But it's probably more like reflux and medication would help.
