Wellies full time

Been thinking about this today and then read the thread about wellies so have started to worry.

My daughter age 2.5 has worn wellies almost exclusively for a year. She had shoes fitted twice pre lockdown. That shop closed down. Nearest will be over an hour away.

We live on a farm, she is constantly muddy. I bought a measure gauge and she has the correct size wellies. Last summer I bought sand shoe type things but I think she worse them about twice. Was going to do same this year and hope for nicer weather. Last year nice days we went to the river so she still wore wellies.

Slippers in house.

Just the comments about well fitting shoes being vital, should I be trying to sort this?

It's just that we don't go anywhere so wellies it has been.

I think that's fine. We also live rurally and with the exception of car trips or sometimes playing just outside on a patio area, mine are always in wellies. Same at nursery as it's wet and muddy. Just make sure they fit well. I often buy wellies once size larger than current shoe size, as shoes being leather or cloth, will stretch, but rubber wellies won't stretch with wear.

The concern is that kids will be wearing shoes to small and squashing their feet.
Wellies are much more practical for farm life and forgiving on feet.

Thanks both. Yes if anything wellies are on the large side, thicker socks etc. She's played outside this morning in her next size up pair which are ridiculously big but after a rough night with baby I just chose my battle today and it wasn't that.

My 19 month old only wears wellies when outside, he has too, loves puddles and our park is a mud bath even when the weather is dry. He wears moccasin slippers at home. I’m guessing your dd spends a fair bit of time inside too, so it’s not like she’s in wellies 8 hours a day.
