Trying to get my 7 1/2 month old to use a sippy cup. I've tried different ones and she just chews on it and won't suck to drink from it, she also refuses to hold it. What age did yours learn?

I never gave my son one, started with 'foist' and now he then could drink out of any cup or bottle at about 18m

From about that Age. Started with an open cup at 6 months. Then a tommee tippee sippy cup the traditional style as it just flows out but gives them the principle of sucking for water. She now uses any cup including straws or the 360 ones.

My 9 month old uses the Tommee Tippee free flow cup at the moment, but she wouldn’t use it for ages. She used the munchkin straw cup from 6 months though.. I taught her to suck on a straw by using a syringe, I’d put water in a syringe and put it to her lips, when she started to suck I’d squeeze a bit of water so she thought she was doing it.. after a couple of days she was successfully drinking from a straw.

We used a doidy cup from 4 months as we never used bottles. When we started weaning, the doidy cup was used at meal times to cope with spillages and then we used a free flow Tommee tippee at other times of the day.

Doidy cup at 5 months, then free flow cup soon after. Once DC got the hang of that moved onto 360 cups where we didnt want spillage and normal glass at table about age one. None valved cups although messy helped DC get the hang of it.
