Our little boy is 2.5yo and has slept through for over a year and has always been a good sleeper...for the last 2 weeks he's playing up going to sleep and shouts and cries for me (mom)...then during the night he's waking once and taking a long time to settle back off...the other night he woke at 2.30am then his nappy leaked so didn't settle back off till 3.45am...nothing has changed with his routine and still has an afternoon nap...he goes straight down for his afternoon nap which we don't let him have any longer than 2 hours...could this be a growth spurt?? Any advice appreciated xx

Could his back teeth be coming through, if they haven't already?

@BunnyRuddington his last molars are coming through actually and no sign of the last upper ones yet so do u think it could be that?? Xx

Could be! I'd try him with some milk and ibruprofen Smile

@BunnyRuddington thank u...we have gave him some tonight so will see how we get on...he's been a nightmare to go to bed and keeps playing up...me and my husband are getting so tired with the night waking as he won't settle for a long time if he wakes xxx

By that age we had to reduce the daytime nap to no more than an hour to improve nighttime and a couple of months after DD turned 2.5, she dropped her nap altogether. Having said that, she has never slept through! Now she’s in a bed, she toddles into us at some point, gets in and goes straight back to sleep, so it’s not awful but I am still wondering when she will ever sleep through!

@Lostinspace23 ye we've thought about reducing his nap but he does only have 1hr30 at his childminder during the week and he's still the same...he's not having any problems going down for his afternoon nap and falls straight to sleep...it's reassuring to know we're not the only parents going through this xx
