2yo with non stop runny nose

Would it be completely unreasonable for me to request a GP appointment at the moment for my 2yo due to his non stop runny nose? Fully prepared to be flamed for even thinking of bothering the GP with this in the current climate.

He started nursery in July and has since had what I thought was cold after cold caught from nursery. I've now realised that his only symptom is a non stop runny nose which makes me think this is an allergic reaction instead? Sometimes his eyes stream all day too (not red or itchy though).

I can count on one hand the amount of snot free days we've had since July.

He's allergic to a couple of foods and has mild eczema. He sleeps fine, not a big snorer but I do find snot all over his bedsheets in the morning (use non bio washing powder). We have a cat and I'm worried that might be a cause.

Does anyone have any experience of the same thing?

I'd certainly phone the GP and talk about a referral to the allergy clinic.

In the meantime, have you thought it may be dust mite allergy? Both me and my DSis have this. I'd start by hoovering his mattress, floor and curtains. Damp dusting his room and washing his bedding at 60 degrees.

This leaflet from Allergy UK might be useful and they have a helpline which you could call before speaking to the GP?

Thank you @BunnyRuddington I've given his room a deep clean today and wiped everything down.

The doctor suggested a dose of piriton every day to see if that clears it in the short term - then at least I'd know it was an allergy to something.....Hmm

Rhinitis, my daughter had it. Watch out for the Piriton though, made my DD really sleepy. She ended up getting her tonsils out, which cleared it up. My DD never snored but very loud sleeper, if that resonates, she also has eczema.
