Is gumtree legit ?

I found a pushchair on gumtree and I have been in touch with the person that sells it, sounds legit, having a second child so need to buy a double one. I am a bit scared tho as it’s a lot of money, turning up to someone’s house with cash 🤷🏼‍♀️ Is there any way I can check is that not a scam ?

I don't think there is to be honest, but take usual safety precautions ie go in daylight, make sure some one knows where you are. If it feels dodgy trust your gut.

My experience of buying from gum tree has been positive. (Ive also brought a buggy from there). But when selling lots of people attempting to scam me & i wouldnt try to sell on there again.

Inspect the item, make sure it is what they said it was and isn't broken and includes all the accessories it should etc before handing over money. Not likely to be a scam if you are getting it in person and handing over cash, that would happen when you get stuff posted.

I use gumtree alot. Nothing but positive experiences, both buying and selling. Make an offer, usually can but for a bit cheaper than what the goods are up for.

Buy

Ive used Gumtree a load. Ive never had a bad experience. PP is right though, always take safety seriously. Ive always gone with someone and always gone to collect an item in the daytime.

Gumtree is probably the best place to buy/sell a large item. I've used it to sell and my husband bought his bike through Gumtree. Obviously take precautions , don't go alone and inspect the item but you're very likely to have a positive experience.
