Travel / pop up cots?

My 7mo is a very large baby (top percentile). We are hoping to go away when he is a year old (and he will presumably be even larger) and will need a travel cot. Most travel cots seem to be newborn sized and I am getting confused. I keep seeing the "pop up" ones cor toddlers but are they any good and are they suitable for his age? It looks like the baby sleeps on floor level? It would be for a 2 week holiday if the government allows us.

Does anyone have experience of travel cots for a massive baby 1yo+?

Thank you.

Hi, we have this one which still fits our tall 2 year-old DD: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004AHLMEM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_B3ZD7DPT1F4Y94J0MN0V?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

It’s a proper full-sized travel cot (120x60cm) and packs away neatly in a travel bag. It’s v sturdy/stable and easy to set up as long as you follow the directions.

Unfortunately like most travel costs the ‘mattress’ is terrible so if you want to use it for holiday I’d buy an extra folding mattress.

Hi! I had the exact same problem, my little one was far from little and all the travel cots seemed too small for him to be comfortable.

I bought the Hauk Dream n Play,it is fantastic, folds right down and is easy to assemble/pack away when not needed, it is the same size as a standard cot so even at 17months (wearing age 2-3 clothing) he has plenty of room to stretch out. Also handy as a play pen if needed.

We did buy a separate mattress though as all the travel cot mattreses are barely more than a bit of cardboard.

We have a pop up one a bit like this deryan.shop/en/product/baby-luxe-2021/ we got it second hand. It's got an inflatable mattress and is fairly small when folded. It was fine when he was a year old, but now he is a bit more active, although he still fits in this one we us a larger one he can stand up in. This was the other one we looked at uk.philandteds.com/products/traveller-travel-cot but I never found one for a good price second hand!

We are currently using the babybjorn travel cot for 9 month old whilst building work done. He seems to sleep the same as in main cot, has been using it 2 weeks so far, and will need another 2 weeks. Mattress is fine. It’s up to 2-3 years. Folds quite small
