Who should buy the car seat?

I'm returning to work from Mat leave soon. Dm offered childcare on 1 week day for a few hours in the afternoon. She is the only childcare we have who drives as DMIL doesn't. We have an integrated isofix car seat in our own car so dropping off to DMIL isn't a problem.
My DM however, has her own car but doesn't have a car seat and will be picking up DS on said day for the afternoon, she has mentioned activities to do together which involves driving somewhere (obviously only once lockdown is lifted).

My question is - who should buy the car seat for her car?

If she is offering, and she can happily afford it, then by all means take her up on it! It's normal
for grandparents to buy gifts, so why not a carseat? Providing they can afford it of course. There's no rule with this. You would have got very different responses if you said that in your OP.

It depends on your daughters financial circumstances and what you are prepared to do to help. I have my grandchild once a week which involves a long drive and I have happily paid for the car seat. It just depends on so many circumstances.. I can afford it and am happy to be so involved in my grandchild’s life .

Sorry I misread your post ...thought you were the grandparent!!

I would say if she offering to pay for it maybe you could suggest paying half each... it also depends whether she is offering to buy the seat of your choice, or whether she is choosing it herself - some grandparents buy a cheap car seat but the parent would prefer a better seat that's more expensive so they buy it themselves.
