when it comes to my parenting.

I left DS1 (7) and DS2 (3 weeks short of 4yrs) downstairs watching the end of Top Gear while I put DS3 to bed. Came on here and (as usual) time ran away with me. I suddenly heard them coming upstairs - it was 8.07 on the clock - and they'd brushed their teeth (of sorts ) and been to the toilet and were climbing into bed .

All I said to them before I came upstairs was "you can watch to the end and then it's bedtime"

DH has just texted to say he'll be back around 8.30 so I may get him to go up and say goodnight to them when he gets in as a surprise (usually it's gone 9.30 when he gets in so too late to go and say it to them)

I think its nice that you said to them before hand you can watch this and then go to bed, I've noticed my dd will do things much more happily with a bit of warning first.

yes - went to bed no problems (tbh they're usually pretty good about going to bed when told "its bedtime" - but they're not usually too hot on taking the initiative if I'm not in the room LOL
