Sleeping

Hi first time posting on mumsnet. Wondering if anyone can give me and advice or tips. My LO is 6mnth old she is a good sleeper once she gets to sleep but she will only fall asleep on me mainly. She can fall asleep by herself but when she is exhausted. I have tried putting her down once she is in a light sleep on me but soon as she is down she opens her eyes, smiles, talks, throws herself about as if she is trying to wake herself up. Any advice or tips would be great as it seems she finds it hard to switch off unless she is lying on me. ThanksSmile

My first daughter was the same. My advice would be to enjoy having sleepy cuddles with a baby as it doesn't last. She will learn to fall asleep by herself eventually, and then you'll probably wish she didn't 😂

Sorry that's not ver helpful but its honestly how I feel. My second daughter has fallen asleep by herself since a few weeks old and I am so sad about it.

My only tip is to wait at least ten minutes more than you think you need to before transferring

I'd persevere with teaching her to sleep by herself. We did this at 6m and it changed my life pretty much! No more sitting in the dark for 40min with a baby crushing my ribs while my husband made dinner - feed, bath, book, in the cot she went and I was free! For 2 hours, until she woke up.

Co-sleeping worked for us (lullaby trust safe co-sleeping guidelines). Very early nights but lovely

Thankyou all for the tips and advice. Going to keep trying she eventually went to sleep herself once I put her down half asleep think she had tired herself out. @Ohalrightthen I want to start getting her in routine of bath then bed as I think it will help but atm unfortunately she is in a pavlik harness but hopefully that will be off next week then can start bathing her before bed.
