Does anyone drive their kids to school from Bordon to Guildford? Getting school place in Farnham when living in Bordon.

Hi there

We are moving to Bordon, but as the schools aren't great there we are thinking to drive our boy to Guildford. Does anyone here does it? It's 20 miles a trip which I would need to do 4x a day with a newborn (2x to school, 2x back home). Is it doable? Or have anyone managed to get into good Farnham primary school when living in Bordon. Thanks.

That's the worst side of Guildford to drive in from - anything is doable but I think it will drive you mad, especially in the morning and you'll spend a huge amount of time in the car.

Have you considered Alton for schools instead ?

Haven't really thought of Alton is there aren't any Ofsted rated 'outstanding' ones. I am really keen to get him into Farnham one, but not sure what the chances are. Might need to consider the whole moving to Bordon.

Is Bordon really your first choice ?

Can I just ask why so important to move specifically there?

Reason I ask is that if it doesn’t work for schooling, then surely... it doesn’t work.

40 mile round trip. Twice a day No. No way. And nor would I want to subject a baby and toddler to that either.

Jesus no, not possible at all. Not even close. The A3 north is a nightmare that time of morning and there’s hardly anywhere you could stop if you needed to with a baby. Why are you moving to Bordon? The new builds are pretty crap by and large and there are a lot of promises that may well never materialise so I wouldn’t be doing it based on that.
Why does it have to be an outstanding school? If you’re set on bordon look at Bordon infants & juniors (wasn’t for me but loads of people really rate it), Selborne C of E (in selborne), Beacon Hill primary (hindhead, still up the A3 but much closer than Guildford and you can go through headley & churt if needed) and the Alton schools.
