2 month old rolling over

My baby is 9 weeks old and has just started rolling over from his front to his back. He generally has good head control and neck strength and has done from very early days, but I’ve just read that rolling over early can be a sign of cerebral palsy. Is two months early enough to warrant concern, or still within the range of normal?

Oh I’m sure he’s fine - chill out! At that age their heads are so heavy he probably just tipped over. Both of mine rolled around that age. DS freaked himself out with it and didn’t ever roll again really! DD is now 12 weeks and did it regularly from about 8 weeks but it was clearly just an accident. Now she is much more deliberate in her movements and I can see she is trying to do it and doesn’t always work.

Oh bless your DS! That’s sweet. I did think it was probably just my son’s 99th percentile head giving him some momentum Grin but I’m also a worrier and an obsessive googler. Need to stop that really...

Thank you!

Yes and with DS I then worried about the lack of rolling (obvs) but he sat unsupported at 4 months, crawled 7 months, walked 11 months and totally fine normal healthy toddler. It’s easy to stress out about every little thing so I totally understand!

My DS also rolled over at that age, walked early and is still very sporty as a teen!

Yep totally standard, don't worry yourself on this one.

Thank you so much all ❤️

Both mine started rolling at 11 weeks. Not a sign of anything bad, just annoying because I had to drop the swaddle earlier than they were ready 🙄

I’m sad to have dropped the swaddle too. He liked it so much!
