until when did your DC share a room

Currently, only have one DC and are hoping to buy a two-bed place. Ideally, we would love to have another baby but I am 40 so that might not happen.

DH now thinks we should try and buy a three-bed place in case we have another baby but that would be quite a lot of money which we don't really have (and we' are not exactly young so not as many years left to pay it all off). My thinking is that if we do manage to have another baby - they can share for a few years and we could then move. No point it overstretching ourselves now if we dont even know whether we 'll even have another baby.

How long did your DC share a bedroom. At what age do they really need their own space? I shared with my sister till I was 16 and she was 8 - DH/DBIL always had their own room - so maybe our views are a bit skewed by our own past experiences.

Any advice would be great

My DS's share a room now and we are planning on converting the loft to make a third bedroom when DS1 goes to secondary school.

DD asked to stop sharing last spring, a few months before her 10th birthday. DS was 7 at the time and they'd been sharing for around 4 years (their choice).

Yes, I was thinking that if we ever have another baby then they can share till secondary school, and then we can move. And I mean we dont even know whether we'll be able to have another baby - been trying for a little while now.
