Constipation

Has anybody got any advise? My LG is 18 days old, hasn’t had a ‘decent’ poo in about 3 days. When trying to go for a poo, she is going red in the face, straining and bringing her legs up to her belly. Yet the poo in her nappy is literally the size of a marble. She has also now not drinking as much milk.

She is formula fed on mamia. Any suggestions??

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

You need to speak to a doctor for such a young baby. I would ring 111 now.

Definitely speak to 111.

Is there a reason she's on formula and not Cow's Milk?

AnnaSW1 · 02/02/2021 07:56

Yep she needs to go to gp. They'll give a glycerine suppository for instant relief. When it gets to over 7 days that when you need to take action. If it becomes a regular thing they'll prescribe some for her and you can do it yourself. I really wouldn't wait any longer now.

@DuaLipaSuction you may have missed that she is 18 days old.

Wow I did sorry, I really did think it said 18 months Blush

Thatwentbadly · 02/02/2021 18:34

@DuaLipaSuction easily done.

DuaLipaSuction · 02/02/2021 18:38

Thank That

@Tiredmama98 how is baby today?

Floofsquidge · 02/02/2021 18:48

That young I really would call gp and Hv. We had a few issues in the early months we solved with switching to comfort milk to clear the "backlog", then changed to HiPP, but to get constipation that young she may have a milk allergy that needs checking out properly.

Tiredmama98 · 03/02/2021 00:10

@DuaLipaSuction not much different unfortunately.

I spoke to HV and she advised to give an oz of cooled boiled water in between feeds and if didn’t improve by afternoon then give 111 a call.

So things didn’t improve, rang 111 and they basically said to give it 24 hours. Tried a belly massage, bicycle legs and a warm bath but still only passing tiny rabbit droppings :(

Will get on the phone to them as soon as it’s hit the ‘24 hours’ mark.

Which formula is she on @Tiredmama98? Do you think it's worth swapping her over to a different one?

Tiredmama98 · 03/02/2021 15:27

@DuaLipaSuction she is currently on mamia from aldi.

Have considered switching over to kendamil as seems to be the most common one people move over to!

Have considered switching over to kendamil as seems to be the most common one people move over to. If you are reading that on here, I'd take it with a pinch of salt. No everyone uses that formula Smile

Did the HV mention the possibility of Cow's Milk Protein Allergy??*

Tiredmama98 · 04/02/2021 09:06

@DuaLipaSuction no mention of that at all. However, after you mentioning I had a look and she is showing 90% of symptoms so could be a possibility!

Finally managed to get an appointment today
