Toddler TV time

I've been feeling bad today and had the TV on all afternoon, my 2 yo has been playing and watching it at the same time. I usually make more effort but just didn't have it in my today. Im heavily pregnant and feel exhausted. I feel guilty but I can't seem to rally round. We did some other more structured activities this morning and spent a little time in the garden.

Do other people have times like this and how do you feel about it. He seems fine. He skipped his nap today.

I think everyone has days like this. If I was heavily pregnant with a two year old I think all my days would be like this! Be kind to yourself and don't feel bad for having a more chilled day. An afternoon of TV will have no detrimental effect whatsoever.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I had all these ideals before I had kids but the electric babysitter featured more and more as I had more children. It’s now a permanent fixture on in most rooms 24/7 during this lockdown. My reasoning is if it educational what’s the harm 🤷🏼‍♀️

When I had my second DC I really relaxed my standards around the tv and then the pandemic hit and I’m sure DD watches too much tv but the majority of the time she’s been playing with it on in the background rather than sitting for hours just staring at the tv so I feel a bit better about it

I have days like this especially when the weather is too bad for a trip out.

I hear you! I’m 40+2 and took my son out of nursery 3 weeks ago as I didn’t want to risk catching covid before birth. All I have the energy to do is let him watch tv! We are already on our 2nd film of the day. Be kind to yourself, you’re not alone. It’s all so hard atm! Xx

I honestly wouldn’t worry about it! Even at my lofty ripe old age I watched enormous amounts of tv as a child and I’ve grown up just fine with a professional, successful career!
