Issue with supply - mastitis

Hi all!
I'm looking for advice on increasing supply after having mastitis.
I exclusively pump and had mastitis few weeks ago, it was pretty bad and the affected breast still does not produce nearly enough milk as it used to. I tried power pumping and it increased supply for the other breast, but not the affected one.
Does anyone have any advice on how to increase supply in this case?

Thanks in advance 🙂

Just a basic thing but are you drinking enough water? When needed to dry mine up I was told to reduce water consumption therefore if you increase water will it help?

@Orchidflower1 Yes I have been drinking a lot of water, I know it's essential for good supply, so that's not it 😐

You could focus on the other breast and get the supply up on that side. Keep a steady supply from the other to avoid mastitis but don’t try to increase supply. It’s normal to have one producing more than the other.

Have you contacted la leche league? They are always really good with expert advice. There’s a form to fill in under ‘contact is’ on the website or you can call 03451202918

Sorry if this is intrusive if so please feel free to tell me to fuck off but how old is your baby and is there a reason that you exclusively pump. The very best thing you could do is put your baby on the breast as they are more effective rand efficient drainers than a pump but you may not be able to do this.
If you are exclusively pumping have you got a pump with a letdown mimic like a medela swing which is good

I had horrible mastitis with my third baby and the antibiotics stopped him wanted to breastfeed for a while as they can alter the taste of milk

I had to pump for about two weeks and two things I took really helped me but not together
Goats rue and also fenugreek supplements
You can get both on Amazon

Also I think around 2 am your prolactin levels are highest so normally an optimum time for milk production either through feeding or expressing

Hope things improve soon

@Greenmarmalade I know it's normal for one breast to produce more, but not in such a difference, I barely get anything.
I have been avoiding contacting la leche as honestly I just assume they will push breastfeeding on me.
I can't see this link you posted unfortunately.

@Cleverpolly3 Thank you for the advice, I will look into those. I have heard that fenugreek can impact supply negatively as well so I am kind of cautios of it, but good to know that it helped you.

My baby is 9 weeks old and exclusively pumping is a personal choice as it works best for us.

I use Spectra and it has a letdown mode, I am very happy with the pump 🙂

Ah Ok, I understand.

You can tell La Leche what you are trying to achieve (exclusive pumping) and that you don’t want to breastfeed. You talk to other mums and I’ve only ever found them supportive. They have materials and fb posts about expressing and feeding, so I’m confident they’d be supportive. If you don’t want to call, you could get a friend/partner to do so and relay the info back to you?

The link was to Kelly mom website which is great for looking up specific problems.

I’ve breastfed 4 and have had different problems with each one, so it’s not unusual at all, but it’s great to have lots of different things to try to solve them- which is where la Leche league can be useful.

I hope you’re feeling ok after mastitis- it’s so awful!

@Greenmarmalade thank you for the advise, I will check out the website.

I feel fine now, just seems I am prone to mastitis. Really don't want to have it again though. 😟
