Reaction to giving Omeprazole dose?

Hi everyone,

Our baby (5 weeks old) has been on Omeprazole for a week now. No doubt it's made a huge difference to her reflux and she's so much happier and feeding better, but administering it is an absolute nightmare.
We tried the crushed tablets and now we're on the syrup, which we split into two doses daily as it's a big amount, and when we give it to her she almost has a fit - froths at the mouth, screams, chokes, goes stiff and bright red, sweats profusely... it's awful. But as soon as it's over she's ok.
Has anyone else had this? I've also contacted the specialist who prescribed it as her reaction is so severe we dread giving it to her and it's horrible to see.

No experience on this one sorry @frankie888 but that does sound distressing.

We give it to our baby in a syringe - is that what you’re using for the syrup?

I put it in my sons milk when he had it.

And I tried it, it didn't taste nice at all.

One twins loves it and will suck it out the syringe, the other I use the bottle teat for half and then the rest ends up in the milk even though I know you're not meant to

It is a v string taste so she might just have to get used to it but I'd Def try it through a test if you're currently using a syringe
