Toddler or single bed

My 2 year old is rapidly outgrowing his beloved cot, should I go for a toddler bed or straight to a single?

His room is pretty small so I'm thinking a toddler bed would work better but realistically how long are they in toddler beds for??

I mean being practical you have to buy all the appropriate sized bedding, waterproof sheets etc etc

Let me know what you think? Tia 🙏🏼

My eldest are still in their toddler beds at 4 but only because of space (they're twins sharing a room) realistically they outgrew them 6 months ago and will be getting single bunk beds as soon as we can afford it.

I've just discovered junior extending beds at IKEA, because we're (also) tight on space it's ideal - not that the room's going to grow but it gets me out of an immediate pickle

I was going to come on and say about the extending beds; we had a cot bed so didn’t have to buy a separate toddler bed but realistically they’re only in a toddler bed for 2-3 years so I would go for a low to the ground single bed if you don’t get the extending bed
