Dummies

This might be a stupid question but here goes!

I'm going to start giving my 4 week old a dummy at night to help soothe him, as he gets all worked up at bedtime and it takes up to 2 hours to put him down!

My question is - do I leave the dummy in when he is asleep? Or do I wait til he drifts off then remove it? Not sure if it's safe for him to have in all night?

Thanks in advance!

It always used to fall out of my DDs mouth when she fell asleep!

Same as PP - usually just falls out once my DD is asleep.

Dont take it away, but it will probably fall out. I used to leave it in the cot, and aroind 5/6 months old he started to be able to find it himself and put it back in.

Leave it in. Giving a baby and then taking it away it linked to an increased risk of SIDS in younger babies.

It’s fine for you to leave it in but as PPs have said it will most likely fall out once your baby is sleeping
