6 week sleep regression

I’ve read about it, is it real?
My DS slept great in the night during weeks 3-5, but now he is 6 weeks old and waking almost every hour (this started from when he was 5 and a half weeks). Not crying or wanting to feed, just thrashing his arms and legs around and shoving his hands in his face, and making really loud snorting/grunting noises. I have to wake up (well, he wakes me up) and soothe him before he properly wakes himself up. Sometimes he will do it on and off for ages and I’ll be up the whole time because I need to comfort him. It’s also taking ages to actually get him to go to sleep and stay asleep when we first put him down for the night, and again after his middle of the W night feed. Frustrating as he was doing so great before, he was sleeping anything between 4 hours to 6.5 hours at a time before waking for a feed. And now it’s all gone backwards!
