Bad sleeper at 20 months... into a bed?

Has anyone switched a terrible sleeper from a cot to a bed and it been a success? My LO is 20 months and always been a terrible sleeper. We are out of ideas and at the moment she just doesn't want to be in her cot so considering trying her in a toddler bed to see what happens...

Any success stories (or nightmares!)?

Well you could try it, not sure it would work though.

I moved DD1 from my bed into her own bed at 22 months. I can’t say it improved sleep but it didn’t make things worse.

What's she doing at the moment, co-sleeping? I put DS1 into a full single at that age so I could get in with him to settle him. I have to say it was so much easier to wean him off this than DS2, who is still in a cot aged 2.5 - he needs boob or won't go back to sleep. When he sleeps in our bed he will happily roll over and have nothing. I want to put him in a bed so it's easier to wean him off but DH isn't sure.

However he fell out loads. With hindsight I probably should have got him a bed guard.

We've given up on the cot. Currently co-sleeping but planning to get ds a bed soon when we move house. He's 18months. Hoping a bed will be better as we can't go back to cot - he hates it.

We switched DD to a bed at 21 months (she has a cot bed so we just took the sides off and got guard rails that left enough space at the bottom to climb in and out). We also got an awesome Hey Duggee duvet cover so she can cuddle Duggee all night 😂 and we have a stair gate on her bedroom door to prevent midnight exploring. It's been amazing! The last 6 out of 7 nights she has slept the whole night in her bed, before that when trying to get her to sleep in her cot she ended up in our bed every single night. No idea why it makes such a difference but I've had more unbroken sleep this last week than I've had in nearly 2 years!

Oh wow, highlandtea!! Thats the dream, glad you've had success!
We are at the point now where we bring her in with us when she wakes as she won't go back off, but even in with us she's awake for over an hour before dropping back off.
Her big sister wants her in with her but little one refused to go in the travel cot in there. Going to try the bed tonight....its not like it can get much worse (famous last words!)

Good luck OP! We were exactly the same, bringing her in with us every night when she woke up as she would never go back to sleep in her cot. Got my fingers crossed for you!
