Gripe water & carobel

Hey Smile

I have a 4 month old baby who has been on Carobel instant thickener since he was about 6 weeks old due to being very sicky. Recently I’ve found he has been quite uncomfortable with wind, he will groan a lot & pull his legs up. He also looks like he’s squeezing a lot & just looking generally uncomfortable. Other than that he’s a happy, content baby that sleeps fairly well. I was wondering if anyone knows if you can put gripe water in his bottles alongside the Carobel? I would ask my HV but trying to get ahold of them in these times is like getting blood out of a stone Sad

Are you winding him often during a feed? Is he actually passing easily when he does have a dirty nappy?

It's also part of learning about their own digestive system etc.

If he's happy and content generally, I'd leave him be.

Carobel is difficult enough to get right without adding gripe water too and it might set off a weird reaction. From memory you're not meant to put the gripe water in milk anyway

We used to wind him every oz or 2 but he now doesn’t let you & will just scream/gurn when you take the bottle away to wind. He’s a very determined LO & will not do something he doesn’t want to lol!

When he does have a dirty nappy it’s a lot of squeezing etc but I wouldn’t say that was anything new

Thank you for replying!

I put gripe water in my DD’s bottle once.. she projectile vomited the entire feed all over me Grin

I found it works best giving it 30 minutes after a feed.

I used to use both with my DD but I would give the Gripe Water separately in a syringe after the feed.

Thanks everyone! I hadn’t got round to reading the directions for gripe water & just assumed you put it in the bottle Blush
