How much do you drink?

I have a 6 month old, my husband works Mon to Fri so can't help me out during the day. When the evening comes I find myself gasping for an alcoholic drink! I'll sometimes have a bottle of wine a week or sometimes a couple of double whiskies and coke in the evening when DD is asleep. Am I drinking too much? I feel like I just really need to chill in the evening and the alcohol helps a lot. A 6 month old is alot of work by myself.

Problem is, alcohol does a fantastic job at relaxing you almost immediately.

I used it when I had a stressful job, for the same purpose you are in the same quantities you are. I wasn’t dependent just it allowed me extra relax time rather than using other methods like meditation which take a bit longer.

It probably won’t be forever, babies are relentless

I was getting to the point where I craved a glass of wine every evening so I stopped altogether for a couple of weeks to break the habit. I never want to 'have to' drink and I think drinking every day falls into that category. Now I tend to open a bottle of wine on Friday night and drink about 1/3 per night over the weekend. Then no drinking Mon-Thurs.

A bottle of wine a week and 2 double whiskies doesn't sound a huge amount of booze. If it was a bottle of wine a night with the whisky as well, it would be different. If it is bothering you, then find another way of winding down in the evening - a non-alcoholic drink, or a long soak in the bath perhaps.
