Sleepy after 8 week immunisations?

december2020 · 18/01/2021 18:51

DS had his 8 week immunisations this morning , all good, he only grumped for 10 seconds or.

He's been so sleepy since then. Will still feed so appetite hasn't disappeared. Am I right to think this is totally normal?
How long does the sleepiness last for?

FTM, apologies for the stupid question!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes it's totally normal, should be back to normal in a day or 2.

Did the nurse give you any aftercare info? http://www.healthscotland.com/uploads/documents/6122-What%20to%20expect%20after%20immunisation.%20Babies%20and%20young%20children-Apr2020-Englishh1.pdf

Mine was grumpy, clingy and tired for the day. He was fine by the next day. Make sure you do your Calpol doses to avoid a fever.

I sent my husband to do the dirty deed as I couldn't face it just yet. I'm such a wuss.

They gave us the info on calpol and dosage as well as the fever and redness/swelling but nothing on potential tiredness or hunger.

He was (understandably) grouchy when we got home but now is mainly eating, sleeping, getting cuddles and feeling a little sorry for himself.

Thank you so much for putting my mind at ease!

Mine was sleepy for that day and that night; think he slept his longest stretch that night. Possibly more to do with the calpol than injections though

Oooh we may be in for our best night time sleep yet then! Grin
