Stabilisers?!

Good morning mums and dads.
We bought my four year old his first bike in October and the stabilisers don't stop his from toppling. Does this mean he's too big for this bike?

My husband said the point is to teach him to balance but have slight support but I remember whizzing round as a kid with stabilisers and my parents were nowhere near me to catch me lol!

It doesn't seem right to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Stabiliser are not very fashionable at the moment. You can’t learn to balance with stabilisers. Most people use balance bikes then go straight on to peddle bikes. If possible if I would removed the stabilisers and peddles and then just put the peddles back on.
