Background...

I have 2 children one age 3 one 7 months. My 3 year old is finally toilet trained and sleeping through and grazes a lot instead of big meals. She really isn't any trouble she was a nightmare sleeping and never used to eat ANYTHING to the point I was worried.

It took me a while to sort out my PND and I feel that really impacted my ability to lock down a solid routine and bond with her.

Now I have a 7 month old and I really need some guidance. I have established a pretty good eating routine with her and a good bond but now I need help with sleep.

I understand a lot of parents struggle with the sleep deprivation but I am starting to sink.

What I am asking from anyone who can help is please tell me your 7 month routine. I am open for criticism.

Basically I can not get her to sleep any longer than 2 hours.

My routine
5am wake milk and cuddles back to sleep at 7:30 for 1 hour
9am breakfast
10am snack (usually something to help her teeth)
11am milk and sleep for 1-2 hours
1pm lunch
3:30pm milk and sleep for 45 mins
5pm dinner
6pm bath time
6:30pm milk
7pm bed
10pm dream feed
12am wakes for milk back down by 12:15am
2:30am wakes for milk back down by 3:30am
5am wakes for the next day.

I have tried not giving her milk during the night and having bigger bottles during the day she will not settle with a cuddle I have tried pushing back her bed time she will not stay awake past 7pm I have tried not putting her in bed and letting her nap downstairs instead but she is out of it and is not for waking up.

Please tell me what your 7 month old routine is.

My DD is 8 months so a little older but I’ve had the same routine since 7 months.

7am: milk
8am: breakfast
9/9:30am: Nap (usually 45 mins - an hour)
11am: milk
12pm: lunch
1/1:30pm: nap (usually 1.5-2 hours)
3pm: milk
4pm: dinner
6pm: bath
6:30pm: milk
7pm: bed

I noticed my DD was waking a lot in the night because she was having too much daytime sleep so I dropped the 3rd nap (used to have a nap around 4pm) and now she’s sleeping better at night (although she’s teething and unwell atm so it’s gone out the window!).

She also used to wake at 5am but I’d keep the lights off and give her her dummy but not feed her until 7 (she wasn’t crying for milk) and she’s slowly started waking a little later.

What happens if you don’t give the dream feed?

crazybutkind · 17/01/2021 10:01

@Thesearmsofmine she wakes at 10:30 and is awake until 12am and then we have a 12am, 2am, 4am and 5am get up rather than 12 and 2:30

I sounds very normal to me but neither of my children have been ‘good’ sleepers.
