6 Week Mother/Baby Check Up

Hi all,

I've just had a letter through from the doctors confirming an appointment for my son's first/8 week injections.

I'm still awaiting confirmation of our 6 week check up (he's almost 7 weeks).

Does the appointment also come through via letter or do I have to arrange this myself.

I rang the doctor's a couple of weeks ago and was told the appointment would 'come through'.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Each area manages this differently. Phone them back and tell them the appointment hasnt come through the post.

A lot of areas now are combining the 6 week postnatal and 8 week vaccinations to minimise having to go to the GPs so I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re just combining them for you.

Here you have to call and book them yourself.

In my area I had to ring and book myself, luckily my midwife told me that after I had the baby.

My surgery sent me a letter with the appointment date. Do call them and ask how they’re doing it.

CustardCreamm · 17/01/2021 10:13

My surgery did the 6 week check alongside the 8 week jabs; we saw the nurse first for the jabs then had an appointment with the GP straight afterwards for the check up. Much easier than having separate appointments on different days!

My area don't even do a six week check
