How many breastfeeds?

Hello everyone

How many breastfeeds should a 10.5 month old have? My son loves his solids and has around 5/6 breastfeeds a day but only because I offer. If I didn't offer he'd never ask. He doesn't drink for long and now only from one boob! Help does this sound right? He starts nursery in 3 weeks and once he's settled in I'm hoping to wean . No judgment please but I'd like my body back now Smile

I moved from feeding on demand to scheduled around 6-7 months as part of weaning.

By 7 months I was bf 4 times at day; first thing, mid-morning, after afternoon nap and last thing. From 10 months each feed got replaced with a snack for the daytime ones and cow's milk for the morning and evening ones on a monthly basis.

Does he drink plenty of water OP with meals etc?
When my ds was same age we were still doing a feed when he woke up, mid morning, mid afternoon and last thing before bed. Plus maybe 1 in the night. So about 5 or 6 sounds about right.
Eventually (by 12 months) he started refusing the mid morning and mid afternoon feeds as he was more interested in playing or full from breakfast or lunch. So I think keep offering and give him a choice. He will decide in his own time.
If you want to wean for your own reasons then that is slightly different. I would cut down on his least fav feeds first one at a time (usually the middle of day ones). Then over time, the morning and night.

With my 10m baby, I do after breakfast, after lunchtime nap, at bedtime. She takes a full breastfeed at each.
