Baby Sleeping through the night? How? When?

My 7 week old sleeps in longer stretches during the night ... sometimes 6/7 hours so I was wondering if we should start guiding her towards sleeping through the night or at least guide the stretch toward more sociable hours (currently about 10pm to 4am)

When did your babies sleep through the night? How did you do it?

My one year old wakes up so much, at six weeks she woke once a night, now about 6 times. My older child was 18 months before he would slept through the night until 5am

My 3 year old has slept through the night from being 6 weeks old (ebf too!); her twin brother however still wakes at least once and was a serial night walker for at least 2.5 years! I really think it depends on the baby/child. Good luck it’s brutal isn’t it? My 3rd baby is a terrible sleeper and an early riser too. Am knackered! Sending strength x

DS was an awful sleeper. We eventually got him to sleep 7-6ish when he was about 9 months old (took a LOT of work and prior to this he was asking hourly!) and then a few months later he had another regression and started sleeping 7-4/5 and then going back down after a feed (otherwise would be up for the day 😩). He eventually properly slept through 7-7 again from about 15/16 months. Now at 2 he sleeps 6-7/8 since dropping his nap.

DD is sleeping a 7/8/9 hour stretch overnight at the moment at 10 weeks but her bedtime can vary from 8pm to 11pm. No rhyme or reason to it. On average, she goes down at 10, wakes for a feed at 5, and then sleeps until 9 or 10. I’m dreading the 4 month sleep regression!!

Both EBF. Just completely different babies.

It's just a lottery. Mine were sleep trained at 13mo and 9mo. Before that, waking at least every 3-4 hours. They still wake up before six just days, and my eldest is 4.

OP your baby is sadly unlikely to keep up such a long stretch of sleep.

I'm counting sleeping through as 8pm untill 7am for my children below

DD 1- 2 months
DD 2- 6 months
DD 3- 11 weeks (3 months old currently)
DD 4- still on 1 or 2 wake ups at 3 months

(The last two are twins and the first has only been sleeping 8pm untill 7 am for the last three weeks but 🤞)

Oh and we sleep trained our second DD at 6 months as she had started sleeping through at 4 months and then started waking up every two hours at 5 months. Took three nights and she was back to sleeping through, did controlled crying.

Your baby is 6 weeks old!!! Don't think/worry about her sleeping through the night yet. Wait until she is 6 months then sleep train.
