After school routine with food

Hello!

Just interested to know what everyone's routine is regarding food after school.

I pick up my DS from preschool and have a packed lunch ready for him as he's so hungry by the time I pick him up at 4pm. I had seen other parents do this so I copied.

Do you pick them up with a snack or lunch box. If a lunch box do they have dinner when they get home or a snack?

We don't do snacks, but we eat at 5 so not a huge amount of time till dinner by the time we get home

Thank you.

I must have a hungry child (not complaining though as I was a fussy little so and so 😂).

I'd just do a snack at that time and dinner at 5pm. Make the snack something that takes a while to eat too.

Mine have a snack like s piece of toast or a crumpet at about half 3 and dinner at 6.

Yes, good idea. I might try a snack and then dinner at 5pm(ish) again. It's just that he used to take about an hour to eat it Confused

At private nursery they had a snack tea at 4 so just had dinner at 5:30. Now he’s at school nursery a snack straight after school and dinner at 5:30.

He has tea at nursery and is usually finishing it as I pick up at 4. We eat as a family at 6, he's often less hungry on nursery nights

I gave him a snack after school and his dinner at 6. He ate everything. It worked although he did get to bed later than usual but I can adjust it.

Thank you for your suggestions 👍🏼

I always gave my ds a snack when we got home after school, about 3.45. We don't eat in the car and he wasn't going to starve waiting the extra 10 minutes.

He had crisps, cheese & some cherry tomatoes or similar. Then supper at about 7pm, meat/veg/pasta etc.

Mine have a snack at 3pm when they get home from school, then dinner at 5.30/6ish. I've swapped their bath to before dinner as it's dark and nowhere to go after school, so this doesn't then delay bedtime.

Milk and 4 and if they are specially hungry then they can have some fruit. And dinner at 5.
