When did your baby drink water straight from tap?

I'm still giving my 9 month old cool boiled water to drink? When did you start to give yours water straight from the tap?

Also, do you still sterilise their cups, cutlery, bowls etc? I don't so this anymore as it was such a hassle - only her milk bottles, teats etc go into the steriliser now.

You don't ever need to sterilise their bowls etc - where did you hear that? Tap water is fine from 6 months (with meals)

I started giving tap water at 6 months and I don’t think I sterilised anything other than bottles or dummies. By 6 months both DC were putting all kinds of things in their mouths

Tap water is ok as a drink from 6 months. I didn't sterilise cutlery, bowls, etc I just sterilised bottles/teats

I’ve never sterilised anything really, I don’t sterilise my nips so figured as long as it’s something I’d put in my mouth it’s ok for my DC. Worked out ok so far.

I gave my DS water straight from the tap at 6 months, when we started weaning. I never sterilised his cutlery, beakers or crockery (bottles would be different, I would suggest continuing to sterilise those, as the teats + stale milk = perfect breeding ground for bacteria).

Thanks all. I'll move onto tap water now.

My HV told me to sterilise bowls, cups etc. I did think it was a bit much so only did it for a week or two. Plus NHS guidelines do say only sterilise of if weaning a baby under 6 months.

First water they ever had was at 6 months and was straight from tap. Also agree about no need to sterilise cutlery, plates etc.

Mine (I have 3) didn’t drink water until 6 months as they were breastfed, and it was straight from a tap. I never boiled it.
Also never sterilised bowls, cups or spoons.

Drinking at a year.

I didn’t sterilise anything or boil the water. The baby would literally lick the floor and eat soil so I didn’t see the point.

6 months. We still sterilise bottles and dummies and will continue until he’s 1.
