Sounds like 4 month sleep regression territory to me....

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 11/01/2021 09:28

I really feel for you but that's not abnormal I'm afraid - he's still very small! Babies have a lot of weight they need to pack on during this period so feeding 3/4 times per night is totally normal, even though it's knackering. He's much too young for sleep training or anything like that, if he's waking wanting food it's because he's hungry so you just need to stick with it I'm afraid. It honestly won't last forever!

Totally normal! He's still very little. It will get better in time!

Totally normal - 2-3 times is actually really good going IME

Ohalrightthen · 11/01/2021 12:27

My daughter woke every 2 hours til we sleeptrained at 10 months. 2 or 3 wakes at 14 weeks is very normal.

Harrysmummy246 · 11/01/2021 13:17

Yep, normal baby.

IDontDrinkTea · 11/01/2021 13:18

Sounds very normal (albeit tough going for you)

Mumtoalittlegirl · 11/01/2021 13:19

You are very lucky! All totally normal. I lost count of how many times Dd woke at that age. It took her 11 months to sleep through. She was breastfed though and liked to be attached to me half the night when she was teething!

ZooKeeper19 · 11/01/2021 13:51

Mine was up every 2 hours, fed 12x per 24 hrs till he was 6mo. It got better then!

crazychemist · 11/01/2021 14:27

Very normal. The waking every two hours is to do with transitioning between sleep cycles. There’s not a lot you can/should do about it this young. Some of them just grow out of it some need a nudge towards better sleep once they are 6 months or so.

TonMoulin · 11/01/2021 14:33

I'd actually say thats pretty good!

Mysteryamazonian · 11/01/2021 15:27

I'm sorry, but that's actually really good, not really bad...

My nearly 4 year old still wakes at least once most nights, and my nearly 2 year old is up at least 3 times a night.

This is a marathon not a sprint. Most babies don't start sleeping through until they are not babies any more, and often a lot longer than that.

There is so much emphasis often on how bad newborn also can be, and people reassuring that it gets better, that actually it is misleading, and often, frankly, wrong, as sorry isn't a linear thing that goes from awful to great as they age. It meanders a lot.

As your baby is bottle fed, your should utilize the biggest advantage you have and split/alternate the nights, as that will help your energy levels a lot.

Thatwentbadly · 11/01/2021 16:22

I wish my toddler only woke that often.

moonriver32 · 11/01/2021 17:06

I'd be so happy if my son woke that often. He's 16 weeks and is currently waking every 20-40 minutes, all night long. I'm broken and not coping very well - so 2 to 3 times for a feed at 14 weeks sounds like bliss to me...

TheVanguardSix · 11/01/2021 17:09

Totally normal. Mine were far, far worse! It's brutal. But you'll get through it. We all do, somehow. Flowers I don't know if 4 month sleep regression is even a thing! Babies are just shit sleepers. Grin

Never has a truer word been spoken

DreamingInColours · 11/01/2021 17:16

My 13mo wakes up more than this!

Vinceypie · 11/01/2021 17:23

All kids are different. Our boy was a terrible sleeper. He was up 2 to 3 times a night until around 10 months old and even now at 2 and a half he wakes sometimes once or twice! He's still teething though so its mainly the pain waking him. We found when he reached 9 months, the dream feeds at mid night really helped tick him over until about 5am. But lack of sleep... you get used to it! To have a baby that sleeps through the night is pretty rare from my experience with my little one and friends.
