dolly mixtures for 7m old?.....cant believe it?

i get a lady in the shop that i work in who has a 7m old daughter who persists on buying her sweets.and the grandma........we're not talking the odd bit of milkybar either.so far she has bought....bassetts nougat, dolly mixtures,kp choc dips,milkyway,milkybar oh and candysticks and lolly pops because "she has teeth now" i am in shock!! they own a business next door and are always popping in to buy her sweets to keep her quiet!!!! does anyone else find this a bit shocking?

What I find shocking is people posting twice, in Weaning and in Parenting, merely for tutting purposes.

I would never dare say it IRL but the response to 'she has teeth now' should be 'but not for much longer if you keep sticking sugar in her mouth all day'

i actually put it in twice because after i posted in the weaning section i thought oh maybe i shouldve posted on here instead.so no its not merely for tutting purposes thats not why i asked i just wondered if anyone else thought it was normal! god and i thought mumsnet was supposed to be a nice place

Maybe they are just using the baby as an excuse, maybe it is for themselves and they are embarrased.

oh, and exactly how do you need support with other children and folks sweet habits?

I don't think it's shocking, just that they need to be directed to a new, more healthy reward system if they want to contibute positivley

MN is a mix of hugely supportive and bitchy. (and a few other things besides). After midnight on friday is possibly not the best time to be out and about on here!

im not looking for support on other childrens sweet habits just personally thought it was a bit wrong to be giving a 7m old baby such crap but guess some people dont mind....no wonder so many kids are obese and have scanky teeth

weaninghell, for what its worth, my own kids only get the odd chocolate treat, tiny, like a few chocolate buttons, or a small M&S chocolate lolly.

But there are many threads here which appears to want to just bash people for giving fruitshoots, mac donalds, or any parenting thing, just for the sake of having a communal tut fest regards to how other people bring up their kids.
