Currently sitting here at 5:54am trying to breastfeed my DS who's a week old it's soo hard I should have read more about it I'm soo tired I feel like he's not getting enough but I know he is because he is peeing and pooing.

I don't know when he's full as he will fall asleep on the boob and then I burp him then put him down and he's crying again😫 he doesn't unlatch when he's done so I have try guess

My boobs are soo big it's so difficult to get in a comfortable position at this point I think I've failed and now am starting to give formula

Use your little finger - put it in the side of the babies mouth to break the latch so you can get them off comfortably. Just pulling them off kills!! Good Luck! You are doing really well.

@TopBants yes mastitis isn't pleasant having suffered with it with my first baby. I used to lean over the bathroom sink and gently massage my breasts to let any excess milk drip out. Eased the pressure but also didn't over supply.

Weeks 1-6 are the hardest then it does get easier after that. I fed 2 babies with my 2nd baby being much easier as I knew what I was doing. It's hard in the beginning as like you say you don't know if you're doing it right or how much baby is getting etc. If you are getting wet nappies then I'd say you're doing a grand job.
I remember thinking all the same things as you. Remember you are still trying to establish breastfeeding, it's still very early days.
Everything should get easier soon. I distinctly remember after the 6 weeks thinking wow it feels much better now. My boobs didn't hurt as much, I didn't feel as awkward and I remember it being a real turning point

That's called hand expressing, and is a type of expressing.
