so it happened again today, my 11 month old baby boy who already crawls but is now trying to get up by holding things. He was doing that at the edge of bed (has storage doors on side). Accidentally the door opened and it hurt him on forehead.
He cried for a minute, there was a white line to where edge of door hit him, but I just feel concerned, if such minor hurts could cause serious damage to his yet developing brain

Ah, I hear you. It upsets me every time my kids get hurt, though I am getting used to minor bumps with my two year old because they happen a lot! I keep a cold compress in the fridge and apply that to all head bumps. Makes me feel better, if nothing else.

Oh golly my kids are so accident prone - it’s part of the course.

We have bumps pretty much daily so it’s just one of those things... you will get used to it!

When DD was around 10/11 months when learning to walk nursery would ring pretty much daily to say she had fallen over and banged her head / face.

She’s 16 months now and still just as clumsy, they just involve her running at speed 🙈🤣

It’s only natural to feel upset, but it’s also natural for them to have bumps / bruises and walk into things etc. Your baby boy won’t be brain damaged!

Don't worry, babies are much tougher than you think. If I could tell you all the scrapes my three got into we'd be here all night! I can assure you of one thing, there'll be no damage to their brains.

My children have been so rough and have seemed to attract accidents and bumps. When my daughter was learning to climb (after crawling) her lower legs were covered in bruises, even the doctor cross questioned me about it. My exH was chasing my toddler up and down our hallway and he ran straight into the wall and ended up with a nasty lump on his head. Luckily we've never had any bad accidents with all 4 of them as young children. However, my 13 year old had 2 broken bones, a dislocation and an operation to remove bone all in separated incidents last year!

It's totally normal for babies to bump their heads because it's often the first part that makes contact with a surface and they are still learning.
