Could 1 yr old have silent reflux?

The last couple of weeks DS has been waking SCREAMING in distress through the night. We put it down to the 4 teeth he had coming in then an ear infection the doc gave us antibiotics for.

He has been on antibiotics 3 days and it is still happening. He is content and happy out of the day but come night time....f*ck me it's a different story. He has spent the last 10 nights in the bed with either me or DH.

It suddenly dawned on me this maybe coincided with when we stopped gaviscon.

He had bad vomity reflux up until a couple of months ago and we just took him off gaviscon recently. Since then there have been a couple of voms but nothing significant. As he wasn't being sick we didn't think any more of it.

DH was saying yesterday how much he is hiccuping and we have just read this and ear infections can be linked to silent reflux.

Any one on here experienced the same thing? Do you think this sounds similar?

Hi- I realise this post was created a while ago, but just wondered if you ever got to the bottom of it.

My LO is 13 months and sounds very similar. He has constant ear infections (the last one lasted seven weeks) and also has food allergies. He’s the happiest baby during the day, but after about an hour of going to bed, wakes up absolutely screaming and arching his back, throwing himself around- this then goes on and off throughout the night. Doc finally said it might be silent reflux, and are now on day three of trying omeprozole after Gaviscon didn’t work. I’m really hoping things improve as he’s been like this for months and months!

Did you manage to get sorted?

Hi.
It sounds like your little one has got silent reflux. Especially with food allergies, mainly dairy. Mine has along soya and others. Gaviscon didn't work for us so we ended up on omeprezol and carobel. If you're on allergy milk thickener like carobel helps to keep it down. Not sure if the doctor told you to give omeprezol time, at least 2 weeks. In our case took 4 weeks but it was a game changer x

Thanks- yes, that’s what I’m suspecting, finally. I think it’s taken so long to diagnose due to his ongoing allergies and continued ear infections. We’ve always been told that’s probably why he is like this. We have our paed appointments this month with both ENT and the allergy team, so hoping to discuss further. I’m BF him so carobel isn’t an option, but we’ve been given a two week trial of omepazrole to begin with so I’m hoping that we see some results soon. We really can’t go on like this much longer! Im really glad it worked for you. Thanks so much for your reply. X
