How do I get him to drink?

Looking for any tips/experiences from Mums who purely breastfed directly from the breast. When did your baby start drinking from a cup? What cup was most successful for you? At the moment my 8 month old son will chuck his cup on the floor or chew on the handle rather than drinking from it. We have tried a few different ones without much luck.

Did you have to introduce a bottle? Any tips for reducing breastfeeds?

I will be back to work mid March and want to make sure my baby will drink when I am not there! Thank you

Unfortunately I just had to try lot of type of cup until I found one that worked. With DS it was a Tommy tippy free flowing one but DD preferred one for the pound shop with a soft straw. I also introduce a bottle for expressed milk and water in the cups.

Dd doesn't really have milk during the day unless if offer a bf at the weekend. She just eats more solids and I'm happy enough to feed on demand overnight for the time being. She likes a straw cup for water

Thank you. I haven't tried a straw cup yet just the open cups and a sippy one so will give that a go.

My oldest was ff but would not drink water, at 4 it’s still a battle, but the thing that worked was a tea set in the bath.

We started with 1 straw cup that he would use (the Tum Tum Tippy up), then worked up to a variety. Also started with chamomile water (chamomile tea really diluted) so it had a bit of flavour. Now he’ll drink most liquid - but not milk - from a straw cup.

We found the 360s were the only ones he’ll take milk out of, but you have to have a mug of something at the same time or he’ll refuse.
