ds4 is the first i have used cloth appies for and he didnt get it (well only very very mild). but other than that yes, i think they all do it. adds insult to injury doesnt it

I've always assumed it's due to the excess saliva they swallow changing the ph of the poo but I have no idea if that's right.

A lot of dentsits will tell you that teething IS NOT connected with nappy rash etc. Although I believed this for years, as soon as I became a mum I knew different.

IMO, it is because the process of teething lowers their immune system, so the wee & poo became more irritable to the skin. As the bum gets sorer (more sore?) the wee & poo aggrevate more & so on & so forth.

I gave dd pearl barley water to neutralise her system when she was teething & it helped no end.

Boil up some pearl barley until very soft. You will need to keep adding water as it takes a lot and you need a good amount for a drink. Drain the barley & keep the water. Offer it to your child when cooled. You can keep it for a couple of days, just shake as it settles.

The water you boil/steam your veges with is just as good.

My dd gets a rash with every tooth. With her i think it is partly because she poos constantly when teething and partly cos her wee and poo are both much smellier when teething, and i presume, more acidic?
