What rules do you have in place for your 8yos?

Dc is generally good but our minimal rules have slipped this year due to lockdown, working too much and then isolation and Xmas. Too much screen time and lack of routine = lots of attitude and bad behaviour! Looking to reset the rules

So please can you tell me what works for you with rules discipline and boundaries

Following!

My just turned 5 year old has had this happen over the Christmas holidays (he's been off since the 14th so 3 weeks now).

We've decided to instil a routine back even though he's not in school, so previously he was coming downstairs in his pyjamas and watching TV straight away, having breakfast after a while then staying in pjs which would end up with a battle to get dressed.

He's now having no TV first thing, breakfast at roughly the same time then get dressed straight away.

Boundaries wise we use 5 minutes time out in his bedroom for really "naughty" behaviour eg throwing things, violence to younger sibling or repeating a bad behaviour after a warning to stop it. He's been in his bedroom at least once a day almost every day in the holidays Confused

We are also really trying to limit screen time which is tricky in lockdown/tier 4, but it had crept up a lot. We are now using it as a reward more so and keeping it in shorter bursts.
