6 year old wiping bum

Just need some advise please.
6 year old girl won't wipe her own bum. I think it's my fault as I used to wither but when she was little. For some time now I've been telling her she needs to wipe her own but as when she is at school I won't be there to wipe.
This morning I shouted at her as she wouldn't wipe her but herself. I told her she is 6 now and she should be wiping her own bum.
I feel awful as she got upset as I shouted at her. I've since apologised for shouting and gave plenty of cuddles.
Have I been too harsh and how to I encourage her to wipe her own but successfully.
I don't want her to start having long term issues with this. I've shown her how to do it.

Thank you

She should be doing this at this stage. Full stop. She will not have anyone do it at school and so she will get dirty and sore - possibly very smelly too.
So sit her down and say to her: I’m sorry I got so angry. I cuddled you because that is what I’m sorry about - but: You DO have to wipe your own bottom now. You are not a baby and this is an important part of being the age you are.
If she cries then don’t give in to her. She has to understand this. Be gentle but firm.
