Confused about formula feeding when making bottles up fresh

I have been using the Tommee Tippee machine since my daughter was born 14 weeks ago but for the last 2 weeks she has had terrible Diarrhea and wind so Iv tried to narrow down to see if anything has been causing it.

I stopped using the machine and started making up the bottles with the kettle and I don’t know if it’s just coincidence but she seems a lot better. The only thing is I’m so confused about the amount she is getting!

She is on a 6oz bottle and cow and gate recommended putting the 6oz of water in first and then the powder which I have been doing but when the bottle settles there’s about 7-7.5oz of liquid in it. So is she getting 7oz or 6? Genuinely so confused with it 🙈😂

She's getting 6 ounces worth of formula. The powder is displacing the water, not increasing the volume. A lot of it will be froth anyway.

She’s getting the amount it says on the bottle so 7oz. You should add the water first to measure properly and then the powder. This will make more than 6oz because it’s the water and formula volume combined. How much you offer doesn’t matter though as long as it’s measured correctly and she’s having as much as she wants.
