Teething & Nurofen

DS seems to have been teething for a couple of weeks now and for the last week we've been giving him nurofen in the night. Dr seems to think it's fine to carry on giving it but a week seems a long time to be in pain from teething so wondering if there is something else. DS1 didn't seem to suffer from teething so badly so we only ever gave calpol a couple of times. Just wondering how long people have given calpol/nurofen for teething? Is 7 days in a row unusual? I should say that his second tooth has visibly broken through in the last couple of days but his sleep doesn't seem to be getting any better and he's generally a bit grumpy (and still on a nursing strike).

No advice but we’re on day two of nurofen for the same thing so want to see the responses 😩

Absolutely no clue but when my daughter suffered with her teeth recently we did calpol before bed every night for about 10 nights and then during the night if needed. As soon as she was better though we stopped and she was fineSmile

@FTEngineerM Hoping you have a good night, it's so tough.

@strawberriesunited We tried calpol but it didn't seem to make any difference so tried nurofen instead. He's a bit grumpy in the day but not so bad that I've been giving medicine so only been giving it at night so far.

My DD (when cutting molars) suffered for days on end and we would feel the same as you. I comfortable with giving Nurofen for what felt like a prolonged period (Nurofen was the only thing that worked), but we knew it was teething and it would end eventually. We pretty much did as you are doing, only gave it ahead of either nap or bedtime. But there were certainly time where we gave it for more than 10 days in a row!

Have you tried anbesol liquid? I found that really good, along with a matchstick monkey, and then nurofen when needed before bed. It is horrible when they're teething, and although it doesn't seem it at the time, it does pass.
