3 years and 10 months, in a two bedroom property. 10 month old sleeps through, but sometimes let's out a little cry in the night. 3 year old gets up 50% of nights for a wee (any time between 4 and 7. 30 generally) We have moved out our bedroom to let the baby sleep through, he did so as soon as we moved out, but wasn't doing so before.
Anyway we are on a mattress in one of our reception rooms and we want our bedroom back. Any experience of getting your little ones to share, am I asking for too many disturbed nights (for all of us) if I do it too soon.

I think 10 months is too small with a toddler. Reason being, toddlers can't be trusted and until your smallest is mobile, they can't easily protect themselves.

My sister's two shared at similar ages and the eldest took to sneaking downstairs and getting into things and taking stuff up to his sister in her cot....frozen fishfingers once.

He also hit her on the head with a wooden hammer. Shock

He's not a bad kid at all...he's all grown now...lovely young man. But at three and up to 5 he was a bit untrustworthy.

@FortunesFave they’ll be asleep, any issues will happen when toddler awakes and we will be in there and have a camera.

Anyone else with any experience of this?

Ours started sharing when 1.5 and 3.5, basically once the youngest had gone into a toddler bed from a cot. It has worked well for us, bedtimes are just one person now, and both of them sleep better with company. Generally it's been very positive for us.

Thanks @Notlostjustexploring that’s early to transition to a bed!! Think ours will be staying in cot a lot longer. We are hoping to have an extension built soon, toddler says he wants baby in the room (of course he does). Just worried about toddler waking up baby when he shouts he needs a wee in the middle of the night and the inevitable teething episodes. I guess by 1.5 that had calmed down for you. We haven’t got time as we can’t stay on mattress forever and I go back to work soon so really need a bed in a bedroom!!

Mine started sharing at 2years 5months and 4months. They still share now 2years later. Not many problems. My littlest wakes but my oldest usually sleeps through this. I don't think it's caused any problems. Although our rooms are so close that I could hear even the quietest whisper.
I'm contemplating a bunk bed but I feel 2yo might be too young.

Thanks @happylittlechick gosh that is young! I’m also worried about my oldest getting up to wee in the night. He makes a right song and dance about it! But I guess if he wakes us anyway I can always sssshhh pat the baby back to sleep.
