Tooth gap

My 6mo has 4 teeth already and more on the way (fun Christmas Xmas Wink ). He has a large gap between his top two teeth and I’m just wondering if it’s normal and will close when they grow down more? His grandfather and some relations have a large gap in their front teeth and worried he has inherited it!

2 year old had a gap between top 2 teeth but once he got all his teeth it went away

Our dentist was pleased with our gappy toothed 2year old. He said it usually meant plenty of room for all of their teeth to come in.

Exactly the same here. DS had a. huge gap which got smaller until his adult teeth came in, then it disappeared.

DD didn't have a gap and now needs some teeth removing and braces.

Out of the two, I'd go for the gap Smile

Normal. Lots of room for more teeth and far preferable to overcrowding.

I inherited a gap between my front teeth which I hated and went to great expense to have fixed. Funnily enough none of my three DC inherited it.

Don't worry, I had a gap as a kid and no one ever mentioned it. It was closed by braces and surgery, but I actually miss it. It gave me character.

It's more common in some genetic lines and is very prevalent in some African lineages where it is seen as a thing of great beauty. In some countries artificial gaps are made through dental operations to enhance the space.

If he dislikes it he can always get braces later, for now teach him it's unique and handsome.

DD12 has a gap, was much bigger when she was younger, she’s yet to lose her baby back teeth so expecting teeth to push together even more when all the adult teeth are through, although dentist has said she may need her frenum snipped - ouch makes me feel queasy just thinking about that!
