Leaking Nappies - HELP!

Using Aldi Premium size 2. Have had to do a full clothing change at this feed and the last feed and before he went down to sleep because he was absolutely soaked right through from pee leaking from the nappy 😔 he’s been in this size for a week and a half, both DH and I have done nappy changes tonight so it’s not as if one person is just useless at the nappy change! It’s from various packs of nappies so not all the same batch. And no real change to his feeding. He’s been changed every 3 hours.

His nappies only feel full at the front as if the pee isn’t soaking down the nappy. Is this something that just happens or should I be concerned that he’s maybe producing too much pee?!

Baby is 7 weeks old and exclusively breastfed if that makes any difference.

Are you making sure his willy is down when you put the new nappy on?? (Sorry if that sounds patronising- we had no idea until a midwife told us to do this haha!)
Is the nappy maybe too big and so it’s leaking out the sides?
I know lots of people rave about aldi nappies but we never got on with them personally, we found they leaked a lot too! I think there’s a bit of trial and error to find the best brand for your baby. Maybe try a different brand and see if it makes a difference?

Is it a new pack if nappies? Could they be faulty?
Are you making sure that his penis is pointing down when you change?
Alternatively try a different brand.

I always went one size up when this happened and it worked

I had this with my 5 week old boy, his willy was always pointing down and we tried several brands of nappies. Only thing that worked was going up to size 3's. He was just weeing more than the size 2's could cope with. He is a big baby though so they're not too massive on him.

@EllyNC @Baublebox @NameChange010101 @namechangefail2020

Everything pointing where it should be and he’s been using these nappies for about 10 days with no issues 😭 used the Aldi Premium size 1s since he was a few days old with no issues either. Nappies are from different packets.

Have put him in a Pampers to see if that makes any difference 🤔

My daughters just woke up (for the second night in a row) at this time, because she needed a full outfit change because of her nappy leaking. We are using the same Aldi nappies and size 2!

Might try going up to the size 3.

RWK29 · 24/12/2020 05:49

@DressingGown87 oh no 😭 It’s just strange that it’s been my DSs last 3 nappies this evening that have all done it 😓 he’s been absolutely fine all day and for the last 10 days in this size. I just went and stocked up on packs and packs of them to see us over Christmas and New Year so we didn’t have to visit any shops 🙈😂

We had this issue and swapped to nappy pants (pampers) seems to have worked but they start at size 3 I think!

Aimee1987 · 24/12/2020 08:19

I used to find aldi nappies brilliant but they changed there nappies not too long ago and their ',new and improved' packs are terrible. I would try a different brand.

RWK29 · 24/12/2020 08:51

@Aimee1987 So strange! He used size 1 Aldi for 6 weeks with no issue and used size 2 for the last 10 days with no issue 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s just suddenly last night 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I use Aldi and theyve always leaked. Now on size 3. Brought some pampers, still leaked! Figured i'll just carry on using Aldi if they all leak!

Happpppppym · 26/12/2020 22:00

Id say try going up a size or a different brand aswell , the only brand my daughter didn't leak through out the night was in pampers premium protection and I haven't changed since. There more money but I believe worth paying to avoid the mess.

MuchTooTired · 26/12/2020 22:09

I’d suggest trying a different brand. I had to switch a few times as my DTs went through the sizes, it seemed to me like different brands were slightly different in shape so it was just a question of trying them out.

I found Sainsburys nappies to be the best for my two on the whole, with Tesco a close second.

cansu · 26/12/2020 22:12

It has been a while since mine were in nappies but I definitely found pampers better than all the cheaper brands. Annoying though. Maybe use the more expensive brands for sleeps?

Noti23 · 26/12/2020 22:21

I found this with size 2 in most nappies. Not sure why. We just went up to size 3.

RWK29 · 27/12/2020 12:26

Thanks everyone 😊 we had actually started off in pampers size 1s and they had leaked constantly so changed to Aldi and they were fab 🤷🏻‍♀️ So just automatically went for Aldi size 2 as well 🤷🏻‍♀️ Went back to pampers size 2 for the last couple of days and not a single leak 👍🏻
Lesson learned, don’t stock up on any nappies 🤣 now have a house full of useless Aldi size 2 🤣🙈

mynameisigglepiggle · 27/12/2020 12:40

Do they do a 2+ size? I used aldi nappies but can't remember. The + ones are more absorbent

DressingGown87 · 27/12/2020 21:37

@RWK29 I’ve switched back to the pampers too the last few nights, and have been ok (touch wood). Glad they worked for you too. I’m just using the Aldi ones in the day, to use them up, as I can change more frequently.

RWK29 · 27/12/2020 22:49

@DressingGown87 I’ve been doing the same with my Aldi ones during the day. My health visitor already got a full box of Aldi size 1s from me as my DS decided to outgrow them the same week that I had just stocked up 🤣 I’m sure she’ll gladly take some size 2s off me too lol

Glad you’ve found a solution! Also worked for us in size 1 and 2 but then leaked so we’ve been in Pampers ever since.
