Baby with continual cough

Hi,
I have a 1 year old who has had a cough on and off since about October. Every time I call the GP they say it's normal for babies to get coughs over winter, that they don't get covid and they won't see him unless he's losing weight and isn't eating and/or drinking which hasn't been the case on any of that time. Do you think I need to get this investigated further? We see a private paediatrician from time to time but it's quite expensive so I tend to go to the GP for most things but they continually fob us off for the cough

No I wouldn’t accept this as normal. Do you see the same GP? Can you see a different one? I’d explain that it is the SAME cough as October and if they can’t help you’d like a referral to a paediatrician for further clarity. I’d get an NHS referrral.
If they refuse I’d ask for a second opinion

Thank you!

We see different GPS but at the same practice. They are pretty overwhelmed at the moment so understand the push back on having us come in as he is well in himself otherwise but I am sure there is something else going on!
